JOB TITLE: Full Time Faculty
REPORTS TO: Education Director and School Principal
The Sarasota Ballet School is seeking an experienced and passionate dance educator to join its flourishing school. Focusing on teaching the younger levels, ages 3-12, they will provide the highest level of training to all students, demonstrating a concern for all students without favoritism along with nurturing the love and appreciation of this art form. This position requires the teacher to be certified in the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a full time, exempt employee, full-time faculty will:
- Plan, teach, develop and motivate students ages 3-12 using the ABT® NTC.
- Plan, teach in the Summer Camps and Junior Summer Intensive.
- Plan, teach and inspire older learners in our Adult and Silver Swans Program.
- Stage, choreograph or rehearse student presentations/performances as needed and assigned.
- Assist in running all extra rehearsals as needed in preparation for performances. Assist in running any performances, including on-stage rehearsals, backstage needs, costuming etc.
- Attend all faculty meetings, curriculum meetings and professional development seminars as scheduled.
- Prepare written evaluations for students when assigned.
- Maintain and ensure healthy, safe and inclusive school environment for students, including following and implementing all policies especially safety, emergency and evacuation procedures when necessary.
- Administrative duties as required and assigned.
- Maintain positive relations with parents and students from all Sarasota Ballet School programs, through email, phone, parent/teacher conferences and any other required communications.
- Make yourself available for promotional/marketing events including, but not limited to, radio, television, and print interviews, which include the taking of, and use of, photos for publicity purposes. Allow the use of your name and title in printed and other materials.
- Support The Sarasota Ballet activities and special events, and any other duties as needed.
Experience required:
- At least 5 years teaching classical ballet at a variety of levels, particularly younger children.
- American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum certification at least Pre-Primary – Level 3
- At least 2 years administration experience.
Experience desired:
- Dance through Parkinson’s Training
- Professional dance training and dance career
- College Degree
In addition:
- Classes run from Monday to Saturday. Evening and weekend hours are required.
- Must be able to pass a Level 2 criminal background check.
- Must have a valid drivers license and if required, may have to pass a driving record check.
- Must be able to legally work in the United States.
Salary range: $40,000-42,000 per year
