About the Role:
Dallas Christian College (DCC) is seeking a Director of Student Life and Engagement who is primarily responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and management of retention and student life programs, activities, and events that serve our student community and for helping to foster an engaging Christ-centered and supportive environment.

Program/Project Management

  • Develop and manage Student Life projects scoping student needs and identifying project deliverables, developing project plans, budgets and reporting on progress.
  • Coordinate and manage the planning and execution of major events.
  • Track and manage Student Life budget and related expenses.
  • Research, develop, and implement ongoing assessment efforts.
  • Assist with the updating of the Student Handbook and Student Life policies.

Communications

  • Generate weekly publications in coordination with the Communications Team.
  • Ensure the timely student notification of important and emergent information.
  • Establish, publish, and maintain the Student Life Calendar and Dashboard.
  • Coordinate Student Life communications and correspondence with both internal and external constituencies including prospective, current students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and partner organizations as needed.
  • Use various marketing mediums and strategies to disseminate information related to student life programs, activities, and events.

Chapel and Campus Ministry

  • Plan and execute creative/strategic mentoring, ministry, and worship experiences.
  • Manage Chapel planning efforts to include speaker, music, media, set up/teardown.
  • Coordination of special guests (graduate schools, missions, organizations, etc.).
  • Manage Student Christian Service Program and reporting.

Housing & Residence Life

  • Oversee all aspects of campus housing operations, including residence hall policies, logistics, and occupancy management.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to Residence Hall Coordinators in their daily housing functions and student support efforts.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, and development of Resident Assistants.
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain safe, healthy, and community-oriented living environments aligned with institutional values.

Student Engagement Services

  • Collaborate with academic department chairs to provide students with guidance in a variety of career-related categories in order to assist them with attaining employment, internships, or experiential work experiences in their area of study.
  • Serve as the general advisor for student government and other clubs and organizations and assists in managing student organization budgets.
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of New Student Orientation, including planning, logistics, communication, and implementation.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Developing Christian Influence course for both traditional and online students.

Student Conduct & Accountability

  • Serve as Chair of the Student Conduct Committee, overseeing all student conduct processes in alignment with institutional policy and mission.
  • Oversee and collaborate with the Academic Subcommittee on academic-related conduct matters.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student conduct concerns, ensuring fair, consistent, and restorative resolution processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of conduct cases and coordinate follow-up actions and referrals as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelors degree in a field relevant to the mission of DCC and/or job functions.
    • At least 1-3 years of relevant experience in higher education or relevant setting.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Required:
      • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the mission of biblical higher education.
      • Commitment to DCC's Statement of Faith and Statements on Sexuality, Marriage, and the Sanctity of Human Life? (www.dallas.edu/about/#about-accreditation).
      • Ability to effectively manage conflict management.
      • Ability to think outside of the box and to lead and manage change.
      • Ability to communicate effectively, skilled in presenting ideas and concepts orally and in writing with the ability to compose correspondence and reports.
      • Ability to work effectively with and develop collaboration in ethnic, cultural, and socially diverse employee and student populations.
      • Must have high level of interpersonal skills including courteous demeanor and appropriate exercise of confidentiality.
      • Organizational skills to coordinate projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with a minimum of direction.
      • A strong desire and ability to build relationships with all segments of DCC and its constituents (employees, students, donors, alumni, church leaders, vendors, etc.) on behalf of DCC.
    • Preferred:
      • Demonstrated understanding and experience with student engagement.
      • Experience in project management.
      • Experience in higher education, church, and/or non-profit settings.
      • Familiarity and commitment to the ideals of the Restoration Movement (Independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ).

Work Environment

  • Exposure to standard office conditions, including but not limited to extended sitting and/or
    standing, reading, writing, typing, speaking, and use of technology.
  • Able to climb stairs.
  • Occasional evening and weekend duties and travel are required.
