Ambulance Chief
Position Overview
The Ambulance Chief serves as the senior leader responsible for planning,
organizing, and directing all Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations within the
Absarokee Ambulance District. This role ensures effective service delivery to the public,
compliance with federal and state EMS regulations, and alignment with broader public
safety goals. This position plays a key leadership role within the public safety command
structure and is expected to collaborate with other departments, elected officials, and
community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Operational Oversite (50-70%)
Administrative and Budget Management (20-30%)
Emergency Response (0-20%)
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in EMS, Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field
(Bachelor’s preferred)
Minimum 5 years of experience in EMS or fire-based EMS with 2+ years in a
supervisory or command role
Valid EMT or paramedic state certification and NREMT
Valid Class D (or appropriate) driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within or leading a rural EMS department
Certified Instructor status in CPR, ACLS, PALS, or NAEMT courses
Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 and NIMS-based leadership courses
