Job Description Dimensional Metrology Quality Specialist

Location: Libertyville, IL

Shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Compensation: $24.00–$30.00 per hour

A day in this role

You start your morning in Libertyville by checking calibration on your gauges, queuing up a CMM routine, and reviewing prints with complex GD&T. Throughout the day, you’ll perform meticulous inspections using calipers, micrometers, height and bore gauges, and optical comparators—verifying that every feature meets specification. You’ll operate CMMs, interpret results, and make minor edits to programs when needed. When a new part launches, you’ll lead AS9102 First Article Inspections, compile documentation, and communicate findings. You’ll document nonconformances, distill quality data into concise summaries for management, and contribute to a safe, high-performance culture.

What you’ll own

• Hands-on inspections with precision tools (calipers, micrometers, height and bore gauges, optical comparators, and more)
• Independent inspection execution with minimal supervision
• Application and interpretation of GD&T across inspection activities
• Operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and interpretation of measurement reports
• Minor edits to CMM programs to optimize routines
• AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIs) with complete, compliant documentation
• Nonconforming material documentation aligned with company procedures
• Summarizing and reporting quality control data to leadership
• Active support of safety and quality excellence initiatives
• Other duties as assigned

What you bring

• 5+ years in quality or a closely related discipline
• Solid command of metrology and dimensional measurement practices
• Proficiency with inspection tools and GD&T
• Knowledge of AS9102 FAI requirements
• CMM programming/editing exposure preferred
• Background in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing strongly valued

Pay transparency

The starting hourly range for this position is $24.00–$30.00. Final base pay will reflect the role’s scope and responsibilities, your experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal equity, and market/business factors. If authorization is granted to work outside Libertyville, IL, a geographic pay adjustment may apply.
