Job Position: Substitute School Nurse & Health Screening Team Member

Location: Brandywine Heights School District

Pay Rate: $37.50/hr

Shift: First Shift, On-call/Part-time

Description: SOS Group is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substitute School Nurse to join our team on an on-call basis. The successful candidate will provide nursing care to students in the absence of the regular school nurse and participate as a vital member of our health screening team. This role is essential to ensuring the health and safety of our students, promoting wellness, and supporting the overall educational mission of our school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Care:

    • Provide nursing care to students, including first aid, medication administration, and management of chronic health conditions.

    • Assess student health complaints and provide appropriate care or referrals.

    • Maintain accurate health records and documentation as per school and state guidelines.

  • Health Screenings:

    • Participate in school-wide health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis) as part of the health screening team.

    • Assist in organizing and conducting health screenings, including setting up equipment, recording data, and following up with parents/guardians.

    • Collaborate with other health professionals to ensure the smooth operation of health screenings.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and healthcare providers.

    • Work closely with school administration and staff to support student health and wellness initiatives.

    • Provide health education and resources to students, staff, and families as needed.

  • Compliance & Safety:

    • Ensure compliance with school policies, state regulations, and best practices in school nursing.

    • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the school health office.

    • Respond to emergencies and crisis situations promptly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certification:

    • Registered Nurse (RN) license in PA or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

    • Current CPR/AED certification.

    • School Nurse certification (preferred but not required).

  • Experience:

    • Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.

    • Experience conducting health screenings is a plus.
