PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:&nbsp;The Research Associate will serve as a support person for the Entomology and Insect Ecology and Management Program, and will assist in developing, conducting, and managing field and Laboratory research for this program at Kentucky State University. &nbsp; The successful candidate will also help prepare manuscripts for publishing in journals and presenting relevant information at scientific meetings, in addition to Extension and outreach programming such as the KSU Third Thursday Sustainable Ag Workshops. &nbsp; &nbsp;

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:The successful candidate in this position will work closely with the principal investigator and be a member of a team conducting investigative field and laboratory research focusing on conservation biological control using native perennial plants to increase biodiversity of insect predators and parasitoids (i.e., natural enemies) to manage pest insects in vegetable and fruit crops. Specifically we are attracting several species of lady beetles, lacewings, big eyed bugs, minute pirate bugs, ground beetles and other predators and parasitoids of sweet corn pests to this and other crops. This position will also evaluate/develop sustainable methods of sweet corn insect pest management by conducting laboratory bioassays of flowering plants, weeds, and synthetic herbivore induced plant protection odors which may attract or repel beneficial insects.

This position involves designing and implementing, and maintaining field, laboratory, and greenhouse experiments. &nbsp;It involves setting up experiments, collecting, entering, and statistical analyses of data, assisting with development of manuscripts for publication, PowerPoints for presenting, plus training and supervising other researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates who are conducting research in the program. &nbsp;Experience operating farm machinery (ie. tractors, planters, cultivators, tine weeders, etc.) is preferred. &nbsp;Experience analyzing data using modern statistical software is essential as is fluency in all Microsoft Office Software. &nbsp;&nbsp;

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assistant Professor WOT (Pain) - Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine

The Assistant Dean for Career Planning and Professional Development provides leadership, management, and direct student and alumni services in the area of career services. This position oversees efforts to support JD students and alumni in obtaining employment, which is a high priority for the law school. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing personnel; developing and managing a departmental budget; managing public relations/marketing/outreach to students, employers, and alumni; generating and providing reports on topics such as employment statistics and service usage; and providing strategic, comprehensive programming and direct services to law students and alumni to assist with their career planning and professional development.&nbsp; Service to law students and alumni includes, among others, the following activities: • Providing guidance and counseling for students and alumni. • Providing document review of job application materials for students and alumni. • Serving as instructor of record in required, credit-bearing, first-year Career Exploration course &amp; Professional Planning course. • Administering a variety of workshops and programs. • Providing library and web-based resources, including online job listings and newsletters for students. • Administering mentoring programs that match students with professionals. • Administering interview programs. • Administering alumni/student receptions in major cities in and outside of Oregon as appropriate. The Assistant Dean is a participating member of the law school’s administrative team and will be expected to plan, develop, and implement law school projects, policies, and procedures. The person in this position will be expected to participate in the business and activities of the Oregon State Bar and various professional organizations. The person in this position will be an energetic professional, whose leadership, creativity, vision, and interpersonal talents will enable her/him to articulate a positive, compelling vision for the office and its programs. It is vital that the person in this position be able to enlist others to help create that vision and to form alliances and work-groups of key law school constituents (including students, student groups, faculty, other administrators, and alumni) to carry out the functions of the Center for Career Planning and Professional Development. This is a full-time position that reports to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs/Law School Dean of Students. Position Description
The&nbsp;<a href="https://salc.uchicago.edu/" target="_blank">Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations</a>&nbsp;at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in the study of Islamicate South Asia to begin July 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. Research expertise may be in any period between the tenth century and 1947, and may focus on any region of South Asia, including Afghanistan.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate a wide-ranging familiarity with Islamic textual traditions and be knowledgeable in the cultural history of Islam in the subcontinent. Applicants are expected to have expertise in at least one relevant South Asian language, such as Urdu, and a solid command of Arabic and/or Persian. They will have an active research agenda leading to publication in leading venues in their area of specialization, be able to teach undergraduate and graduate level classes in English, and to teach advanced reading classes in their language(s) of expertise. Candidates must have completed all requirements for receipt of a PhD in a relevant field by the start date of the appointment.
