Job Description

Job Description

Most entry-level engineers get stuck.

Drafting redlines. Waiting years for real responsibility. Feeling invisible in big firms.

That’s not this role.

At Timberland Structural, we’re building a different kind of engineering company. One that runs on Clarity, Consistency, and Communication. We use modern systems, automation, and fast feedback so our people grow faster and do meaningful work from day one.

This isn’t just about filling a seat. It’s about finding someone who wants to become a leader in a company that’s scaling.

What you’ll actually do

Inspections: Shadow, then lead field visits to document conditions and meet clients.

Drafting: Prepare plan sets and details using our template library.

Engineering support: Run calcs (headers, joists, foundations, decks) with oversight from the PE.

Systems & innovation: Help refine SOPs and processes as we scale.

Who we want

Passed the FE exam.

B.S. in Engineering.

Strong foundation in structural principles (residential focus preferred).

Comfortable with drafting software (Bluebeam, Chief Architect, AutoCAD, or similar). Hungry to learn, not afraid of responsibility.

Clear communicator with clients and teammates.

Aligned with our 3 Cs: Clarity. Consistency. Communication.

What you’ll get

Direct mentorship from the PE/founder.

Flexibility (remote + field hybrid role) ~ 70% desk / 30% field

Fast-track growth: inspections, drafting, and calcs for your own projects in your first 6 months.

The chance to be part of a company that’s building world-class systems, not repeating old industry habits.

Benefits Package

Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • Flexible PTO: at least 10 paid days per year, plus all paid holidays.

  • Additional PTO available with manager approval.

  • Birthday PTO: automatic paid day off for your birthday.

Health Benefits (ICHRA)

  • We provide an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) instead of a group plan.

  • Timberland will reimburse you up to $350/month (pre-tax) toward your health insurance premiums.

  • You choose your own ACA-compliant plan.

  • Reimbursements are managed automatically through Gusto.

Professional Development

  • PE Exam Support: Timberland will cover exam prep courses, exam fees, and provide PTO to prepare.

  • Education Budget: Up to $1,000/year for professional courses, conferences, or continuing education.

Work Flexibility & Lifestyle

  • Remote Work / Wellness Stipend: $100/month for coworking space, internet, gym membership, or wellness activities.

  • Flexibility to manage your schedule around client commitments.

Future Growth Opportunities

  • Profit-Sharing Path: As the company grows, employees may be eligible for performance-based bonuses tied to pod results.

  • Career Pathing: Clear advancement from EIT → Project Engineer → Pod Leader.
