JOB DESCRIPTION:

A newly NIA-funded postdoctoral position for recent Ph.D. is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Levy at the NKI. Our proposed studies examine the mechanism initiating changes in mitovesicles biogenesis and secretion and the downstream effects of these changes

This study routinely employs multidisciplinary approaches, including biochemical analyses, immunolabeling, electron microscopy, genomic, proteomic and lipidomic approaches of mouse brain tissue, human postmortem brain tissue, and in vitro cultured cells.

JOB DUTIES:

• The individual will isolate intracellular compartments and extracellular vesicles from brain tissue, and analyze them by Western blotting, fluorescent activated sorting, immunolabeling for confocal microscopy and electron microscopy.
• The individual will be responsible for the isolation of mitovesicles from the brains of mice expression the human apolipoprotein E genotypes, from tissue culture media, and for the sorting of different mouse brain cells.
• For cell culture, the individual will prepare and analyze primary neuronal and astrocytic cultures.
• The individual will work closely with the P.I. and other members of the laboratory, performing experiments, analyzing data, and writing manuscripts.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and one year of professional research experience in an appropriate field or 30 graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A recent Ph.D. Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences
• A strong research and record of written productivity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in international journals and potentially fellowship applications.
• The ability to work efficiently, great problem-solving ability, excellent organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and should have good writing skills.
. Extensive experience in handling and surgical procedures of mouse models
. Be fluent in English, C2 level.

Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements:
