Our Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for construction projects ranging from small scopes of work to full end-to-end project bids. This role will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to evaluate drawings, specifications, labor, materials, and schedules. The estimator will be hands-on in quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, bid preparation, and cost risk evaluation to support successful project execution.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
· Preparing detailed cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and project requirements
· Performing quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
· Soliciting, reviewing, and analyzing subcontractor and vendor pricing
· Developing accurate bid proposals, budgets, and cost summaries
· Identifying scope gaps, constructability concerns, and cost risks during preconstruction
· Supporting value engineering and cost optimization efforts
· Collaborating with project management and field teams to validate assumptions and production rates
· Assisting with change order pricing and budget revisions as projects progress
· Maintaining historical cost data, pricing databases, and estimating templates
· Supporting preconstruction planning, scheduling, and bid review meetings
Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (required)
· Minimum of 2 years of general construction experience, including estimating, field operations, project coordination, or similar exposure
· Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and labor productivity
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
· Proficiency with estimating tools and software (Excel required; Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, or similar preferred)
· Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
Experience supporting commercial, industrial, residential, or civil construction projects desired
· Familiarity with subcontractor markets and cost benchmarking preferred
· Exposure to budgeting, scheduling, or cost control during construction desired
Preferred Education & Background:
· Bachelor’s degree or greater in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
· Other degrees with relevant construction estimating or field experience will be considered
