Responsibilities
- Execute quality validations (e.g., Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, Performance Qualification)
- Validate test methods
- Verify equipment calibration and perform equipment preventive maintenance
- Apply statistical process control methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance as the organization’s statistical subject matter expert
- Provide quality expertise in product development and risk management activities
- Participate in investigations of root cause analyses on material, process non-conformance, out of specification results and develop effective corrective and preventive actions
- Complete customer scorecards
- Generate and analyze reports to determine trends and lead corrective actions.
- Use concepts of probability and statistical quality control to guide decisions.
- Collaborate with supplier representatives on quality problems ensuring corrective action implementation
- Participate in supplier qualifications process
- Provide training to operations and quality assurance personnel for new or updated material requirements
- Supervise all activities in the laboratory. Delegate tasks and set goals for the department.
- Responsible for the development and training of Lab Techs.
- Conduct appropriate levels of reviews for all direct reports.
- Facilitates data collection, summary and analysis to support problem solving activities.
- Maintain specifications and ensure the specifications are communicated appropriately.
- Disposition suspects nonconforming material, downgrade or allow to ship.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse team to dispose nonconforming material.
- Review lab test results in System Analysis Program (SAP) and Quality Windows (QW).
- Trouble shoot problems with certificate of analysis (COA).
- Receive COA for raw material in each rail car, complete documentation and enter into QW.
- Ensure lab equipment calibrations are performed per the standard.
- Develop new product inspection plans and facilitate the execution of the trial in the lab.
- Facilitate monthly meetings with quality employees and present quality issues.
- Identify areas for quality improvement and implement new methods accordingly.
- Develop partnerships with colleagues throughout the company.
- Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.
- Quality – demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work.
- Safety – follows company procedures and uses material and equipment per manufacturer’s directions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education Level: B.S. in Engineering, Science or equivalent combination of education and experience with Quality Engineer certification
- Experience: ISO 9001:2015, 45001:2018, 14001:2015
- Years of experience: A minimum of 5 years of collective experience in a Research, Manufacturing, Quality, and/or Regulatory Affairs function. Experience should include close working relationships with Manufacturing and Research functions.
- Skills in: CAPA, FMEA, RCFA, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA, Validations, SCARs, SPC, analytical problem solving, technical writing, computer operation, SAP, Six Sigma Black Belt and interpersonal communication
- Ability to lead diverse teams to work harmoniously while exhibiting a "can do" attitude
- Knowledge of working in teams, machine operation
Environment
- Work area is a manufacturing environment which is NOT climate-controlled year-round with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud requiring hearing protection.
