The IT Systems Administrator oversees and maintains all aspects of Salem Electric’s computer infrastructure. This position manages automation of desktop maintenance, assists with management of servers (VM & physical), installation of new servers, hardware and software, and management of cloud services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide help desk support for Salem Electric employees including computer, peripheral equipment, and software support. Track and manage issues and resolutions using a ticketing system.
- Perform programming and automation tasks using scripting tools like PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
- Work as part of the IT Team responsible for the security of technology and information systems, including internal IT systems, and web or cloud-based systems.
- Maintain the back-up infrastructure of the network. Verify the integrity and availability of all server resources, review systems and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs.
- Install and configure computer systems and applications within the company including automated OS deployment and weekly patching processes for Windows software. Actively update and maintain all servers and end-user endpoints on the network.
- Perform regular data security monitoring and analyze findings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five years of systems or network administration experience.
- Associate’s degree required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related Information Technology field preferred.
- CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and Microsoft certifications required. MCSA preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and extensive knowledge of operating computers, Windows operating system, office technology, enterprise software, help desk software, remote access programs, and Microsoft Office products
- Skill in promptly detecting, assessing, analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving network and software problems is required. Make recommendations and take appropriate action as needed.
- Advanced analytical skills are needed for trouble shooting problems, finding information, and resolving issues.
- Intermediate reasoning skills are needed to understand cause and effect relationships. The ability to quickly absorb and learn new technologies and anticipate future applicability is required.
- Intermediate project management skills are needed to prioritize and complete projects. Must be detail oriented, thorough, and be able to follow projects through to completion.
- The ability to manage work schedule and make informed decisions about where to invest efforts based on established priorities is necessary.
- Possess the oral and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with co-workers, members, vendors, and other diverse audiences.
- his position requires the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all skill levels to ensure that employees can successfully use technology in the performance of their job duties.
