Job Description
Job Description
Mount Indie is seeking a Systems Engineer who thrives in innovative, integration-driven environments and is passionate about reducing uncertainty early in the development lifecycle. This role supports the definition, design, and de-risking of complicated tactical communication systems composed of hardware, software, networking, and RF components.
Key Responsibilities
Define
- Contribute to refinement of mission intent and system scope
- Surface assumptions and risks early in development
- Support decomposition of customer requirements into system-level behaviors
Design
- Support system architecture and interface definition
- Create and maintain system diagrams and interface documentation
- Participate in trade studies and cross-discipline collaboration
De-risk
- Support modeling, simulation, and integration experiments
- Assist in planning and executing integration and test events
- Capture expected vs. observed behavior during testing
- Support hypothesis testing through integration activities and capture expected vs. observed system behavior
- Surface deviations that invalidate architectural assumptions and feed them back into system refinement
Deliver
- Support formal integration and system verification events
- Ensure system behavior aligns with defined mission intent
- Assist in documenting expected vs. observed outcomes
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning
- Help maintain traceability from mission threads through validation artifacts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience
- 4–6 years of experience in complicated system development
- Experience integrating hardware, software, and networking systems
- Demonstrated ability to work in iterative, fast-paced development environments where requirements and architecture evolve as uncertainty is reduced
- Experience integrating across hardware, software, networking, and RF domains in environments with shifting technical constraints
- Experience working within a hypothesis-driven development environment where architectural assumptions are progressively tested through integration and test events
- Ability to link detailed execution work to higher-level mission intent and architectural hypotheses
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SysML, Cameo, or MBSE practices
- Experience supporting modeling and simulation activities
- Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., Jama, DOORS) and maintaining bidirectional traceability between requirements and validation artifacts
- Familiarity with issue tracking and work management tools (e.g., Jira)
- Experience working within digital engineering or model-informed development environments
- Familiarity with agile development environments
