We are currently seeking a passionate individual with daycare or preschool experience to join our team as a Preschool Assistant Center Director.
Position Overview
We are seeking an organized, motivated, and caring Assistant Center Director to support the daily operations of our preschool center. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and leader who is passionate about early childhood education and creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
- Support the Center Director in the overall management and daily operations of the preschool.
- Act as the primary leader in the directors absence.
- Assist with enrollment, tours, orientation, and retention efforts.
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations, accreditation standards, and center policies.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation.
Staff Support & Development
- Assist in supervising, mentoring, and coaching teaching staff.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training team members.
- Help schedule staff and ensure appropriate classroom ratios are maintained.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and professional workplace culture.
Family & Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with families through regular communication and support.
- Help plan and participate in family events, conferences, and community outreach.
- Address parent concerns or questions with professionalism and empathy.
Curriculum & Program Quality
- Support teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Ensure classrooms meet quality standards for safety, cleanliness, and learning environments.
- Observe classrooms and provide feedback to promote continuous improvement.
- Assist with coordinating assessments, progress reports, and learning documentation.
Health & Safety
- Ensure center health, safety, and emergency procedures are consistently followed.
- Maintain oversight of medication administration, incident reporting, and facility inspections.
- Promote and model safe, hygienic practices for staff and children.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
- Meet PA state licensing requirements for a group supervisor
- Minimum 13 years of experience in early childhood education; supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of child development, licensing regulations, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
