Job DescriptionDescription:

The Hazardous Materials Program Specialist or Junior Scientist assists the Project Manager to perform project objectives. They ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental regulations, as well as DoD and USAF directives including installation-specific policies. They research hazardous materials products, recommend safer substitutions, and identify, inventory, and track materials across sites. They maintain hazardous materials tracking systems, including the Air Force EESOH-MIS database, ensuring data quality and compliance. They assist the Installation Hazardous Materials Program Managers with program implementation, metric reporting, and adherence to Hazardous Material Playbooks. They participate in regular and ad-hoc meetings; prepare monthly reports summarizing accomplishments, deficiencies, and upcoming work.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

3–5 years of experience in hazardous materials management or environmental compliance, preferably in DoD or government settings.

High school graduate or equivalent.

A college degree in a scientific field is a plus.
Experience working with hazardous waste is a plus.

Possess or obtain a 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification prior to the first day as a condition of employment (assistance can be provided).
Pass pre-employment drug screening including marijuana.
Ability to pass a government background check for military installation access.
Ability to pass occupational physicals.
Ability to wear a respirator.
Have a positive attitude, integrity, and strong work ethic.
General computer skills.
