Canyon AeroConnect, an operating unit of TransDigm Group in Prescott, AZ for 50 years, is a leading supplier of avionic-standard communications, navigation, and audio systems. Our products serve civilian, paramilitary, and military applications, including Air Ambulance, Law Enforcement, SAR, EMS, Military, and Marine operations. We are known for high-quality tactical communication and audio equipment, such as radio/audio management systems, Tac/Com, VHF/UHF radios, intercoms, and data interfaces.

This onsite role in Prescott, AZ involves designing and developing new avionics equipment, including airborne radios, audio control panels, and other systems, as well as sustaining engineering of existing products.


This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Role purpose (position scope):

This position supports Quality and Operations performing Acceptance Inspections, and First Article Inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection of Mechanical and Electrical Assemblies including:
    • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).
    • Able to evaluate components/assemblies to ensure compliance of product to engineering drawings.
    • Understands and is able to apply basic inspection and testing techniques, including various types of sampling plans.
    • Perform First Article Inspection in accordance with contractual requirements.
    • Able to communicate with customers and government representatives for Source Inspection activities.
    • Accurate completion of documentation.
    • Ability to review production records for completeness.
    • Able to document findings in detail
  • Compliance with the following:
    • Canyon Aeroconnect processes and procedures
    • AS9100 Quality Management System
    • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) prevention
    • Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Core Competencies:

  • Experience interpreting blue prints for mechanical and electrical components and assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of IPC/J-STD requirements
  • Some knowledge of the AS9100 Aerospace Quality Standard.
  • Intermediate knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspections.
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to thrive within cross functional teams.
  • Experience running CMM, AOI, or X-Ray Inspection is a plus.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • High School Diploma
    • 3 years of related experience in Aerospace, Military or Automotive Quality.

  • Tasks involve light physical effort in sedentary to light work; may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects or materials 5 - 10 lbs.
  • Vision/Color Blindness testing is required.
