The AI Research and Solutions Intern supports the discovery and development of automation opportunities across manufacturing, distribution, and 3PL environments. The role focuses on analyzing operational data, mapping workflows, and identifying inefficiencies that can be improved through AI-driven solutions. The intern assists ongoing projects through testing, documentation, requirement gathering, and cross-department collaboration. They also build simple prototypes or dashboards, research emerging technologies, and help maintain existing tools. By spending time on production floors and preparing clear reports for leadership, the intern ensures solutions are practical, data-driven, and aligned with operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify AI and automation opportunities across manufacturing, distribution, and 3PL operations.
Support ongoing AI and tech projects with data, testing, and documentation.
Map workflows and spot inefficiencies for potential automation.
Build simple prototypes, scripts, or dashboards as needed.
Analyze operational data to surface trends and improvement areas.
Help maintain and improve existing AI/automation tools.
Research new AI tools, platforms, and industry trends.
Create clear reports and project summaries for leadership.
Gather requirements from departments and translate into tasks.
Document processes and standard procedures for new solutions.
Assist with staff training and rollout of new technologies.
Spend time on production and warehouse floors to understand needs.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field – or - Currently enrolled in University and completing related degree.
- Concentration on AI preferred
- Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and data

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office and warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, scanners, and smartphones.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate (verbal/written), converse with, and exchange information with others. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasionally move between their workspace and office machinery. The person in this position must operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine, printer, calculator; pull/retrieve/file documents in a filing cabinet. May need to position oneself to move between tight, high, or low spaces. Seeing abilities required by this job include detecting/identifying/recognizing/inspecting objects close to the employee, within a distance, peripherally, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally move throughout a warehouse environment, including standing and walking for extended periods. The employee must be able to navigate diverse environments and remain physically active throughout the workday.
