Job Responsibilities

As the Microbiology Lab Supervisor, you will lead the strategic and operational oversight of microbiology and associated technical areas across multiple sites. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations in microbiology (and related technical disciplines), ensuring consistent, high-quality performance
  • Collaborate with site leadership to implement enterprise lab strategies, standards, and best practices
  • Drive process improvement, cost optimization, and resource utilization across departments
  • Monitor quality, regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and corrective actions in consultation with leadership
  • Coach, mentor, and develop laboratory staff; manage performance, staffing, scheduling, and competency assessments
  • Participate in operational planning, budgeting, and fiscal oversight, addressing variances and optimizing departmental outcomes
  • Lead initiatives to standardize procedures, adopt new technologies, and support growth and innovation
  • Foster open communication across shifts, sites, and lab teams to ensure seamless operations and patient safety


Minimum Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Microbiology, or equivalent required
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS / MT) via ASCP or equivalent accrediting body required


Experience & Core Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years in clinical laboratory sciences / operations, ideally in microbiology or related disciplines
  • 3 years of laboratory leadership experience
  • Strong ability to manage multiple sites, shifts, or departments simultaneously
  • Deep familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., CAP, CLIA) and quality management
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead process improvement


Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $43 – $58 per hour, depending on skills and experience
  • Full-time, day-shift position with flexibility for oversight across sites
