P17 Solutions is seeking Junior / Mid-Level skilled Technical Writer to support the Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) Program which is part of the FAA's NextGen initiative to modernize surface and terminal operations. This role is responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation, training materials, and communication deliverables that clearly convey complex system and program information to diverse audiences including engineering teams, air traffic controllers, technical operations staff, and program stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience writing technical content for large-scale IT or aviation programs, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with engineers, program managers, and subject matter experts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the research, write, and edit of technical manuals, system user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), quick reference materials, and training documents for TFDM systems.
- Transfer technical specifications, engineering requirements, and program data into clear, user-friendly language tailored to FAA stakeholders.
- Develop templates, style guides, and controlled vocabulary to ensure consistency across program documentation.
- Work closely with FAA engineers, software developers, program managers, and operational stakeholders to gather source information.
- Participate in program meetings, design reviews, and system demonstrations to capture content and clarify requirements.
- Ensure documentation reflects FAA safety, cybersecurity, and configuration management requirements.
- Edit and format documents for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to FAA and industry standards.
- Manage version control and contribute to configuration management of official program documentation.
- Support FAA readiness reviews, system acceptance, and stakeholder communications by delivering compliant and accurate documentation.
- Support the development of training content and job aids for end-users, including controllers and technical staff.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Aviation, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Junior: 2 - 5 years of professional experience in technical writing, preferably supporting government, aviation, or large-scale IT programs.
- Mid-Level: 6 - 9 y ears of professional experience in technical writing, preferably supporting government, aviation, or large-scale IT programs
- Experience working in FAA, aerospace, or other regulated industries strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and documentation tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, Visio, Confluence, SharePoint and KSN).
- Familiarity with FAA programs, NAS systems, or air traffic management concepts preferred.
- Excellent editing, grammar, and formatting skills with strong attention to detail.

Security Clearance: All candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Citizenship/Permanent Residency Requirement: All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.
- Be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).
- Has resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
- The company is unable to sponsor candidates at this time.
Relocation Requirement: Relocation expenses are not offered. Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Travel Requirement: Occasional travel to FAA facilities
Work Environment: Full-time position with a standard flexible work schedule and cubicle setting.
Base Pay: The base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
