Job Description
Job DescriptionAET Federal is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Technical Writer / Report Writer to support our federal programs by developing clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation and deliverables. The ideal candidate will have experience in government or technical environments and be able to translate complex concepts into user-friendly documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and edit technical documentation, including reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user manuals, system documentation, and meeting summaries.
- Gather information by collaborating with technical staff, SMEs, and project managers.
- Develop reports and documentation that adhere to federal government formatting standards and contract requirements.
- Maintain version control and document revision history.
- Ensure documentation is grammatically correct, consistent, and in compliance with organizational style guides.
- Support proposal writing, data call responses, and presentation materials as needed.
- Participate in quality reviews and make updates based on feedback.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Public Trust.
- Able to work on-site in Suitland, Maryland (absolute must)
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a federal or government contracting environment.
- Knowledge in help desk/ call centers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and document management tools.
- Strong attention to detail, grammar, and formatting standards.
- Excellent organizational, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on federal contracts or within a government agency.
- Familiarity with Section 508 compliance and document accessibility standards.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, or other collaborative platforms.
