ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

An increasing number of Americans most of whom are women and people of color are employed in service sector jobs that are marked by low wages, no health care, job insecurity, and lack of training and career advancement opportunities. The SEIU Education & Support Fund
tackles these issues by designing and facilitating worker-centered, relationship-based, and accessible education, training and workforce development programs. We serve as a strategic
partner to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and collaborate with other unions,
nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and employers to help workers access good jobs
and spark positive social change. Throughout our work, we promote a culture of empowerment
that honors experience, culture, diversity, and inclusion.


POSITION SUMMARY

As part of our ongoing commitment to driving systemic change and improving operational efficiency, we are seeking a dedicated Data Systems Director to lead Salesforce-related initiatives within our organization. This role will be critical in ensuring that Salesforce is fully optimized to support our key programs and strategic objectives.


The Data Systems Director will oversee the implementation, customization, and continuous improvement of the Salesforce platform, focusing on data management, user adoption, process automation, and system integrations. This includes collaborating with program teams, technology staff, and external vendors to ensure Salesforce solutions are effectively aligned with organizational goals and are delivering measurable results.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Salesforce project management, with a proven ability to successfully manage complex projects. Experience in a non-profit or mission-driven environment is highly preferred, as well as a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and lead projects that drive both operational efficiency and program impact.


KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Leadership: Lead and oversee end-to-end Salesforce projects, from planning and execution to monitoring and closing, ensuring they align with ESFs mission and strategic objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with SEIU-ESF program departments to define project scope, gather requirements, and ensure Salesforce solutions meet the needs of the organization.
  • Salesforce Expertise: Provide guidance and best practices in Salesforce administration, recommending customized solutions to enhance system functionality, improve workflows, and increase efficiency.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage project resources to ensure timely and effective project delivery. Lead and support a team of Salesforce Administrators
  • Budget Management: Develop and track detailed project timelines, milestones, and budgets. Ensure projects stay on track and within budget while addressing potential risks or challenges.
  • Vendor & Integration Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and oversee the integration of Salesforce with other organizational systems to enhance functionality and improve data management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze the performance and impact of Salesforce projects and make recommendations for ongoing improvements to the platform, processes, and workflows.
  • Risk Management:
    Identify risks early in the project lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Is able to flex hours to support staff across multiple time zones as needed (generally with notice).
  • Ability to travel occasionally to Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and California.
  • Has exceptional judgment, interpersonal skills, and a desire to develop and grow a talented
    team
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce platform features and capabilities, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and nonprofit-specific Salesforce tools (e.g., Nonprofit Success Pack).
  • Experience managing Salesforce projects with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and program staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical, actionable solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work under tight deadlines


EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of project management experience, with a focus on Salesforce implementations or platform management.
  • 8 - 12 years of experience with Salesforce data management, reporting, and dashboard creation.
  • Salesforce Certification in Salesforce Business Analyst or Salesforce Developer certification is required.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce development tools (e.g., Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components) is a plus.
  • Proven experience leading Salesforce-related projects, including customizations, integrations, and upgrades.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce platform functionalities, architecture, and ecosystem (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies (examples are: Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall).
  • Experience in managing Salesforce integrations with third-party tools and systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering results.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Asana, JIRA, MS Project).

At ESF, we are committed to fairness, consistency, and transparency in our compensation practices. The salary for this role is predetermined based on standardized geographical cost of labor data and the candidate's primary place of residence. The selected candidate will receive one of the following salaries: $102,293, $114,569, and $125,821,depending on their location.


Salaries are assigned by matching the candidates current location to our cost-of-labor chart and cannot be negotiated.
