Role Overview
Were seeking a Senior Applied Geospatial Scientist to design, build, and operationalize advanced algorithms that turn multispectral and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery into actionable insight. You will apply your expertise in remote sensing, machine learning, and image analysis to accelerate how satellite data becomes intelligence.
In this role, youll collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to prototype and deploy scalable geospatial models within EarthDailys cloud-based analytics ecosystem.
The EarthDaily Constellation
Launching in 2026, the EarthDaily multispectral satellite constellation will deliver daily global coverage with science-grade fidelity. As part of this pioneering team, youll help define how these massive data streams are fused, analyzed, and transformed into operational intelligence for national security and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and validate algorithms for object detection, feature extraction, and classification using multispectral and SAR data.
- Apply AI/ML, deep learning, and traditional remote sensing techniques to large-scale image datasets.
- Develop scalable pipelines for data preprocessing, fusion, and analysis within cloud environments.
- Work with engineers to deploy production-ready models across AWS-based or containerized architectures.
- Conduct applied research, incorporating state-of-the-art approaches in geospatial AI, computer vision, and data science.
- Document and present technical results for internal stakeholders and mission partners.
Required Qualifications
- D. or M.S. in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in applied geospatial analysis, image processing, or machine learning.
- Expert-level proficiency with Python and libraries such as GDAL, Rasterio, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Deep understanding of multispectral, hyperspectral, and SAR data workflows.
- Experience with cloud-based processing (AWS) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proven success bridging research prototypes and production analytics at scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active or eligible TS/SCI security clearance.
- Experience deploying ML models to production systems.
- Knowledge of distributed data architectures and large-scale compute frameworks.
- Background supporting U.S. defense, intelligence, or environmental missions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to align technical results to mission outcomes.
