Job DescriptionBenefits Administrator The Benefits Administrator is responsible for administering corporate benefit programs and providing guidance for benefit plan formulation. This role is also responsible for employee wellness program development, execution, and communications. As part of the HR Team, this role also lends support to our HR call center, answering employee benefit questions and providing guidance on benefit matters as needed.Responsibilities
- Serves as technical expert in health care cost containment and provides support on all healthcare cost containment initiatives.
- Analyzes health insurance claim payments, reconciles invoices, and ensures proper employee v. employer responsibility for claims cost share. Audits claim payment processes.
- Drives Wellness initiatives, which may affect healthcare cost containment. Responsible for the creation, promotion, distribution, and facilitation of wellness program initiatives & communications. The intent is to promote all employee engagement and wellness.
- Compiles statistical summaries of participant data, event/seminar attendance and employee engagement to ensure proper detailed program evaluation.
- Conducts assessments to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, wellness and fitness programs, events, or services. Provides ad hoc and standard reporting on program health and other outcomes.
- Recommends new program or partnership opportunities, such as with local gyms, banks, health and fitness vendors, or wellness portals / apps.
- Organizes and oversees health screenings, such as flu or biometric screenings annually.
- Assists the HR Manager in the development of budget, policies, and procedures relevant to the operation of the wellness program.
- Works closely with the HR Manager on the annual Open Enrollment process, leveraging support from our benefits broker and HRIS team.
- Stays up-to-date on all benefit compliance matters, working closely with our benefits broker, and ensures timely completion and all activities.
- Works to resolve escalated and/or complex benefit issues that arise from participants.
- Supports 401(k) inquiries from employees and questions from plan administrators.
- Monitors the part-time Variable Hour Employee population for medical eligibility and offers of coverage.
- Provides support to the HR Manager for the annual ACA process.
- Maintains effective business relationships with benefits and wellness carriers / brokers / vendors.
- Administer employee benefit programs including enrollments, changes and terminations
- Manage, approve, update and maintain employee benefit information in benefit administration systems
- Update benefit plan information / cost tables in benefit administration systems
- Monitor employee health and welfare benefit contributions on a regular basis, providing hours reports to Operations for Variable Hour Employees
- Submit standard contribution adjustments to payroll based on life events, new enrollments, leaves and errors
- Responsible for all auditing and reporting in benefit administration systems
- Authorized to manage and audit invoices / bills and approve payment from benefit carriers and responsible for submitting to Accounts Payable for payment
- Send out enrollment letters to all newly eligible employees
- Compile all necessary reports to determine eligibility for the Health & Welfare benefits for new hires as well as during the open enrollment process
- Complete and process all Domestic Relations, State Welfare and Medicare paperwork
- Maintain employee benefit files and benefit design documents, as needed per Record Retention requirements
- Provide ad hoc and standard benefits reports, as needed.
- Create company-wide benefits census for overall benefit budgeting
- Provides benefit presentations to new hires on a bi-weekly basis, and at our school bus meetings annually.
- Supports the HR team by helping with additional tasks that may arise, within scope and ability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related subject
- 3+ years of experience in a Benefits role, working with a self-funded benefits plan strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of principles and practices of human resources
- Strong logical reasoning, ability to work autonomously, with meticulous attention to detail skills
- Strong computer (Microsoft Office) skills with advanced Excel skillset
- Experience and comfort working in an HRIS/HRMS system required
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to clearly explain benefits to employees
- Working knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, FMLA & other benefit compliance regulations
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
- Willingness to travel locally between locations in PA, NJ & DE to execute various wellness initiatives or assist with employee engagement events
- Experience developing a wellness program or administration of one highly desired
