Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 school in Burnsville, MN is seeking a dedicated professional specialized in teaching students who are visually impaired. This contract position offers an opportunity to provide crucial educational support to visually impaired students across all grade levels, from kindergarten through 12th grade, during the current school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement specialized instructional plans tailored to the educational needs of visually impaired students.
  • Utilize adaptive technologies and teaching methods to enhance learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Assess student progress and modify instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Assist with orientation and mobility training when applicable.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with educational standards.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
  • Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and Braille instruction.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators and families.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Location: Burnsville, Minnesota

Duration: Contract for the current school year (CSY)
