Job Title: Long-Term Substitute Teacher
Position Summary:
The Long-Term Substitute Teacher provides instruction, classroom management, and support for students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher for an extended period of time. This role requires maintaining a positive learning environment, delivering lessons according to curriculum plans, and ensuring student growth and success during the teachers absence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver daily instruction following lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or develop plans aligned with school curriculum if needed.
- Maintain classroom routines and expectations to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and/or assessments.
- Communicate with school staff, administrators, and parents/guardians as appropriate.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and planning sessions if required.
- Support students academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field (Masters preferred in some districts).
- Valid state teaching license or substitute authorization (requirements vary by district/state).
- Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility, reliability, and ability to adapt to various grade levels and subjects (if applicable).
Work Schedule:
- Full-time during the teachers absence (length may vary depending on assignment).
- May be required to take on additional duties such as supervising lunch/recess, attending meetings, or planning lessons.
