Our medical client is seeking a detail-oriented and professional Registration Specialist to support the financial success of their facility through effective revenue cycle management. This role reports to the Business Office Director and Supervisor and plays a key part in registration, payment posting, insurance verification, and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform registration for multiple patient types including outpatient surgery, inpatient, emergency, outpatient clinic, and direct admissions/transfers.
- Confirm and update patient demographic information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Obtain and verify insurance information, assign financial classes, and ensure proper funding verification.
- Generate and distribute all required admission and consent forms; secure patient/guarantor signatures via electronic signature platforms.
- Properly assign and generate medical record numbers and verify patient identification.
- Advise patients/guarantors of charges and collect payments at arrival or dismissal; perform accurate payment posting and batching.
- Process admissions and ensure all physician orders and documentation meet regulatory requirements.
- Maintain scanned documentation in the EHR and understand downtime registration procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical business office or healthcare registration required.
- Strong understanding of revenue cycle processes: registration, payment posting, collections.
- Knowledge of medical forms, insurance verification, and EHR systems.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure with strong customer service skills.
- Self-directed, accountable, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflicts professionally.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment requiring patience, endurance, and tact.
