Payroll & Benefits Operations Manager

What Youll Do
- Lead full-cycle payroll operations including new hire setup, terminations, changes, tax filings, and compliance across multiple states.
- Act as a trusted partner to Finance and HR, reconciling payroll, supporting audits, and contributing to budget planning.
- Manage health, retirement, wellness, life, and disability benefit programs, including enrollment, renewals, and vendor relationships.
- Guide employees through benefit options and payroll processes, serving as a reliable resource for questions and support.
- Partner with brokers and providers to evaluate, negotiate, and enhance benefit offerings.
- Stay up to date with payroll and benefits regulations (ACA, COBRA, ERISA, FLSA) and implement changes as required.
- Drive continuous improvement by streamlining systems, automating reporting, and implementing best practices.
- Play a central role in open enrollment campaigns, wellness initiatives, and communication efforts that directly impact employee engagement.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
- Extensive experience managing payroll and benefits end-to-end 8+ years of hands-on ownership is required, with at least 5 consecutive years in one organization demonstrating consistency and depth.
- Strong understanding of wage & hour laws, payroll tax rules, and compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency with payroll/HRIS systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, or Paycom.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
- Highly organized and dependable, able to thrive under deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- A clear communicator who can build strong relationships with employees, leadership, and external partners.
