The Opportunity: This opportunity is supporting the APi Group organization as it establishes and implements the strategy around business platforms, including but not limited to the Field Service Management (FSM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Capital Management (HCM), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools. The intent is to transition operating companies and branches onto platforms in a strategic manner that optimizes and expedites value capture as well as minimizes disruption to the business. This program will also encompass legal entity rationalization and shared services establishment discussions as necessary to facilitate the system and platform moves. The scope of the program includes both business transformation and technology across the company in several phases over the next 2-3 years.

Position Summary:

The Data Engineer – Intern will specifically provide support for the ExCAL Data Workstream. This individual will serve as a data resource within the team to assist in delivering on-time, accurate, high-value, robust data solutions across multiple platforms. This position will work closely with the platform team(s) to engage stakeholders across operating companies, corporate functions, and vendor partners to successfully deliver project objectives and outcomes within the selected systems.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Critical Responsibilities include curating the data to match what the reporting analysts need and partnering to build the pipeline and BI reports for data analysts.

  • Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data to clean, transform, and load datasets into data storage systems.
  • Assist in building and maintaining data infrastructure on cloud platforms or on-premise environments.
  • Support the development of data models, schemas, and tables to enable robust querying and analytics.
  • Assist in optimizing database performance and query execution to improve overall system efficiency.
  • Debug and troubleshoot data-related issues and provide resolutions as needed.
  • Support data governance initiatives, including metadata management and adherence to data compliance requirements.
  • Document technical processes and solutions to ensure knowledge transfer among team members.

Skill Set Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
  • Familiarity with big data tools and frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and Hive.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
  • Experience with Git or another version control system is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

This role will be based out of our New Brighton office. The pay range is $21-25 per hour, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for benefits that support the total well-being of you and your family. Some benefits include:
