As a part of a team of caregivers, members of the Early Childhood Ministries Team at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church are people who view caring for young children a joy and privilege, love teaching and nurturing kids at play, enjoy partnering with parents, volunteers, and fellow staff, and seek to help kids understand they are known and loved by God and those caring for them!
We are seeking Christians with a heart for children who can help support families by providing children's programming during church events. Must have the ability to attend to and care for basic needs of infants, toddlers, and young children (typically Birth-5 Years, but sometimes through 6th Grade). This includes but is not limited to ensuring that there is a safe, nurturing environment, managing all childcare needs, providing age appropriate activities, and interacting positively with children, parents, volunteers, and fellow staff.
Must be flexible with the ability to work Friday mornings, as well as ideally Sundays and occasional nights and/or weekends. Candidates must be reliable, responsible, team players, who have strong work ethic, are able to communicate clearly, follow directions, etc. Looking for individuals who are caring, nurturing, and able to foster a sense of community amongst team (staff & volunteers) as well as families (parents & children). Minimum 1+ year experience strongly preferred, but willing to train the right fit. CPR Certification and ECE units a plus!
This is a part time, non-exempt position (will also accept candidates interested in temporary work or internships). Typical employee works 2-7hrs/wk during the school year depending on individual's availability & programmatic needs. Pay is $19.00-$22.50/hr depending on education & experience, plus accumulation of 1 hour sick pay for every 30 hours worked. Staff member's children can also participate in Early Childhood Programming free of charge (as long as it is arranged in advance). Great job for those who need flexible schedules, want something with limited hours to allow time for school or family, or are looking for a second job.
