We are hiring a Full Time Activities Assistant for our brand new state of the art Healthcare Center, Gadsden Glen, at Bishop Gadsden! Our Activities Assistant will assist in the planning of and leading of monthly individual and group activities for our residents in our skilled nursing setting. The successful candidate will have compassion for and the desire to work with the elderly.


A Typical Day:

  • Support new resident orientation to the activity program and help with integration into community life.
  • Encourage resident independence and optimal level of functioning
  • Assist with documentation of the residents’ participation, the activity interests, needs, and concerns of the residents.
  • Participate in Activity Committee meetings as necessary
  • Assess needs and maintain an adequate supply of materials to implement activity programs
  • Utilize plan of care in delivery of resident centered programming
  • Receive and give reports on resident’s condition when applicable
  • Observe any change in resident condition and report it immediately
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care and programming.
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor at all times
  • Implement room visits and one on one opportunities as directed by supervisors

Requirements:

What We Need From A Candidate:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in all aspects of long-term care for the elderly required
  • Prefer 3-5 years’ experience in working with elderly activities
  • Valid SC driver’s license with no violations within three (3) years
  • Basic computer knowledge, Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook (ability to work with computer programs as needed)
  • Ability to direct daily activities with little or no supervision
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and employees
  • Must be available to work weekends
