Job Description

Position Title: Workforce Training Associate

Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Location: On site in Knoxville, TN with some hybrid work. U.S. travel required up to 40%.

Job Summary: IACMI - The Composites Institute®, is seeking a highly motivated and detailed-oriented Workforce Training Associate to provide organizational support to the America’s Cutting Edge, Metal and K-12 Workforce Development teams. This position will be critical in fostering outreach and relationships with public-private partners, including industry, schools, local communities, government, private sector organizations, and workforce development organizations. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is tech savvy, well organized and a self-starter who enjoys working on a team focused on impacting the lives of individuals and communities through education and training. The position will require hands-on technical ability and the willingness to learn additional manufacturing and advanced equipment operation.

IACMI is headquartered in Knoxville, TN. This is an on-site position with some remote work, requiring individuals to work independently and on a team. This position, reporting to IACMI’s Workforce Trainer requires travel with overnight stays approximately 40% of the time, including quarterly in-person meetings at our headquarters in Knoxville, TN.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the workforce trainer, develop training delivery guides, slides, programs, and technical topic multimedia.
  • Learn and utilize new software, attend training sessions, and learn new manufacturing skills
  • Safely operate and maintain shop machines, inventory, and tools/equipment
  • Model positive advanced manufacturing processes and 6s workplace organizational behaviors
  • Track program expenses, budgets, and invoices to maintain and keep inventory of technical shop supplies
  • Take instructions to build instructor-led and virtual training sessions from lead training personnel at assigned ACE Sites
  • Initiate program follow-up, when necessary, under the direct supervision of the training leader
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical training school completion
  • In plant manufacturing experience aligned with IACMI training area or areas (Metal, ACE, Composites)
  • 2 year's experience in production environment
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment supporting CSS/IACMI workforce team as needed
  • Self-starter with problem solving abilities and able to follow directives and budget considerations
  • Demonstrate the patience and ability to coach, provide clear direction, and have strong organizational skills
  • Must have ability and confidence to give speak in front of groups confidently and Instruct in a shop environment
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software: Autodesk Fusion, Mastercam\
  • Ability to learn new software as needed
  • Ability to gain new training qualifications through workplace technical training
  • Willing to work with manufacturers learn new processes, spend time at industry sites to increase skills and abilities
  • Valid US driver’s license required with an ability to drive to meetings and events
  • Must be able to move around freely, lift up to 25 pounds, sit or stand for moderate periods of time
  • Willingness travel at up to 40% of time with some overnight stays
  • Willingness to work flexible, varying hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Eligible candidates can reside in TN

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Federally funded programs and projects such as Department of Defense, Department of Energy and/or Department of Labor, Department of Education
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred: Milling, turning, automation, and casting / post processing of castings
  • Patience and ability to work with K-12 students as needed
