About the role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive OLT Project Manager to oversee and coordinate the field deployment of telecommunication cabinets, backhaul circuits and associated passive infrastructure in FTTH projects. This role involves end-to-end site execution support, vendor coordination, and ensuring that cabinets are installed and integrated as per design specifications, quality standards, and within project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Coordination:
- Assist in the planning and execution of cabinet deployment schedules across designated FTTH clusters or zones.
- Coordinate with design teams for cabinet placement based on fiber route plans and coverage targets.
- Coordinate with Backhaul Vendors and the Engineering team to ensure connectivity to our cabinets.
- Field Deployment Supervision:
- Supervise site survey, civil works, cabinet installation, fiber duct entry, grounding, and power provisioning.
- Ensure that cabinet foundations, placement, and alignment meet FTTH network specifications.
- Vendor & Contractor Management:
- Liaise with civil and installation contractors for material delivery, site readiness, and task execution.
- Conduct site visits to monitor work progress, workmanship, and ensure compliance with safety norms.
- Documentation & Quality Assurance:
- Validate as-built documentation (site layout, duct entries, fiber counts, etc.).
- Perform quality audits and ensure adherence to deployment SOPs (standard operating procedures).
- Ensure OLT Fiber Allocations sheets are provided as per design specifications and quality standards.
- Testing & Handover:
- Support the testing and commissioning of passive network components up to the cabinet level.
- Ensure cabinets are fully functional and ready for integration with the central office (OLT) and customer premises (ONT).
- Ensure handover with Construction teams and Ripple operations.
- Reporting & Escalation:
- Track daily/weekly progress and update stakeholders on key metrics (e.g., cabinet count, site readiness, delays).
- Escalate risks and bottlenecks in deployment to project leadership for timely resolution.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 35 years of experience in FTTH or broadband network rollout, with a strong focus on passive infrastructure.
- In-depth understanding of FTTH architecture, including FDH (Fiber Distribution Hub), FAT (Fiber Access Terminal), and feeder/distribution network.
- Hands-on experience with telecom cabinet deployment, power provisioning, fiber routing, and civil works.
- Knowledge of right-of-way (ROW) and local municipality requirements is a plus.
- Familiarity with GIS-based network planning tools and FTTH BOM (Bill of Materials).
- Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD (optional), and project tracking tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel dashboards).
