What You'll Do
The Database Administrator reports to the Manager of Platform Services and works with other DevOps Engineers, SRE's, and Application Developers to support the scalability, reliability, and security of iSeatz's data platforms.
In this role, you will optimize, secure, and maintain core databases and distributed systems to ensure our applications perform at their best.
Your Impact
- Manage and optimize Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and OpenSearch databases for availability, security, and performance.
- Support database configurations that ensure high availability, performance, and disaster recovery.
- Use scripting tools (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine database maintenance tasks.
- Support database upgrades and data migrations as needed.
- Ensure database performance supports business-critical applications and services.
- Provide database support for analytics and reporting needs.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to maintain stable production environments.
What You Bring To The Table
- 5+ years of experience in a Database Administrator or similar role, with cloud-native database operations.
- Expertise in tuning and managing Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and OpenSearch.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) and experience with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, SumoLogic, or DataDog.
- Experience supporting API integrations, multi-tenant platforms, and high-volume transaction systems.
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Proficiency with BI and data tools such as Redshift, Snowflake, or Tableau.
- Comfort working in highly scalable environments with a focus on cost efficiency.
- Ability to clearly document and communicate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Demonstrated alignment with iSeatz values—confidence, innovation, accountability, impact, and thoughtfulness.
Bonus Points
- Experience migrating data from legacy systems.
- Experience working in the travel, loyalty, or lifestyle tech space.
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty).
Pay Range for this Position:$97,000—$145,000 USD
Location
This role is remote-first and can be located anywhere in the continental United States - feel free to work from your home office, from the beach, or from the cottage you rented for the summer! iSeatz is a New Orleans-based company with Central Time Zone business hours (9:00 am - 5:00 pm CT). While we support flexible schedules, some roles—particularly those with direct client collaboration—may require alignment with client time zones for key meetings and real-time communication.
