We are seeking a passionate, student-centered School Climate Specialist to help foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment that allows every student to thrive.

Position Overview
The School Climate Specialist plays a key role in building and sustaining a positive school culture. Working closely with the Dean of Students and school leadership, this individual supports social-emotional learning, behavioral interventions, and teacher coaching to ensure students experience a learning environment that is safe, structured, and full of joy.

This position blends direct student engagement with teacher support and family communication, aligning social-emotional and behavioral systems to the school’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

Culture and Climate Leadership

  • Implement school-wide positive behavioral supports aligned with STEM Prep’s vision and values.

  • Maintain a visible and proactive presence in classrooms and common spaces to build relationships and promote a safe learning environment.

  • Collaborate with school leaders to design and monitor student interventions that promote growth and accountability.

  • Support the Dean of Students in coordinating student incentives, school culture events, and community celebrations.

  • Build authentic relationships with students and families, ensuring they feel connected and supported.

  • Supervise after-school detentions or restorative spaces as needed.

Setting and Sustaining Schoolwide Expectations

  • Model professionalism and consistency in tone, communication, and expectations.

  • Engage in direct, supportive conversations with staff and students to maintain high standards.

  • Provide coaching and feedback to teachers on classroom management and culture-building strategies.

  • Facilitate or co-lead professional development sessions related to student culture and engagement.

Administrative and Family Engagement

  • Consult with staff on student safety, crisis intervention, and access to social services.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of behavioral supports and student progress.

  • Partner with caregivers to discuss student needs and celebrate growth.

  • Participate in family engagement events and school activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working in a school or youth-serving organization supporting young adults.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead adults through change and hold them accountable with care.

  • Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a student-first mindset.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching or coaching experience with evidence of student growth.

  • Proven success building partnerships with families and community organizations.

  • Experience connecting with diverse student populations, including immigrant and refugee families.

  • Familiarity with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and the CASEL Core Competencies.

  • Starting Salary: $50,000 Final Salary depending on experience
