Specialty Underwater Services (SUS) Pittsburgh office is hiring a Project Engineer to join our team for the $769.9 million Montgomery Locks and Dam project, awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Deconstruction of the existing auxiliary lock chamber will start in Spring 2025, with project completion anticipated in 2030. This vital infrastructure project is part of the larger Upper Ohio Navigation Project, designed to upgrade aging lock systems. SUS is actively seeking a dependable full-time Project Engineer. This Project Engineer position earns a competitive salary. You will work a full-time schedule (Monday through Friday, 40+ hours per week) with some variation based on project needs with the ability to travel to and work on the construction site.
SUMMARY OF PROJECT ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage project takeoffs and documentation
- Prepare project proposals
- Obtain quotes from suppliers
- Develop strong relationships with: customers, vendors, subcontractors, quality control personnel, operations, and management staff
- Use exceptional organizational skills for effective project management
- Leverage interpersonal and communication skills for successful task completion

PROJECT ENGINEER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (particularly Excel)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to new challenges
- Must be willing and able to travel or relocate as necessary for projects
PROJECT ENGINEER REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field, which may include Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management or the equivalent experience in the construction industry.
- At least 1 year of experience with marine, heavy civil or industrial construction is required
- Experience with US Army Corps of Engineers is a plus
- Professional Engineer license is a plus

SAFETY
This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis.
