SUMMARY: The Information Technology Technician is responsible for maintaining, assisting and training users, troubleshooting problems, installing hardware, software enabling, cameras, etc. and configuring information systems. This position is responsible for assisting the Network Administrator with all Information Technology (IT) - related maintenance issues in a person-centered environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Install and maintain all agency computer systems as assigned. Provide technical maintenance for systems, applications, and communications hardware and software.
  2. Assist the Network Administrator with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of personal computers,, ethernet networks, network cabling, devices, printers, surveillance cameras, electronic card control devices, and related equipment, etc.
  3. Troubleshoot computer problems, either repairing in-house and/or making determination to send off-site for repair.
  4. Train users or arrange training for individuals or staff on system use and applications.
  5. Evaluates, answers inquiries, diagnoses and resolves operational problems.
  6. Assists users with transitions to new computerized systems and software packages.
  7. Pass the Medication Administration test with no more than two attempts and administer medication to clients according to physician orders and using appropriate administration techniques as outlined in the Medication Administration course, if needed.
  8. Must be able to perform Lifting and Transferring techniques as trained and pass performance testing. The employee may occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 50 lbs. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement.
  9. Driving of agency vehicles as necessary for transportation of clients and agency business as assigned.
  10. Must, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    1. Able to regularly sit, walk, stand, climb up and down stairs and ladders, physically restrain clients pursuant to training (when necessary) and sit at a computer for long periods of time and repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times (typing, data entry).
    2. Communicate through speech with individuals in service and public in both quiet and noisy environments.
    3. Operate a personal computer and related software.
    4. Tolerate various levels of stress and meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
    5. Demonstrate specific vision abilities which include close, distance, and depth perception and able to read handwritten or typed material, and able to adjust focus.
    6. Work and concentrate in both noisy and quiet environments.
    7. Squat, stoop, kneel, and reach above the head. Forward motion will occasionally be required.
    8. Work inside the building a majority of the time.

Essential Duties include the Physical Demands listed below.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor ongoing and accurate system inventories; maintain records on computer equipment and peripherals, including ensuring documentation on current information technologies are available and up to date.
  2. Assist with the Administration and user support of the Google Workspace environment by working in a cloud-based computing environment and troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems and cloud-based issues, by using vendor warranty or either repairing in-house and/or making determination to replace it.
  3. Develops and maintains system profile on current hardware and software.
  4. Monitors and maintains video surveillance systems at all sites.
  5. Monitors and maintains Point-of-sale equipment at retail store locations.
  6. Monitors internet connections and works with internet service providers to maintain quality of service at remote locations.
  7. Performs some administrative work for departmental information system functions, including writing memoranda, instructions, protocols, or other matters as needed.
  8. Interact with internal clients at all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provide answers in a timely manner.
  9. Effectively communicate relevant IT-related information to directors, supervisors, and staff.
  10. Work with IT staff and IT contractors to ensure uninterrupted service to the network.
  11. Must have strong organizational and time management abilities.
  12. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment.
  13. Participate in staff training activities and staff meetings, as outlined in the Agency's staff development curriculum.
  14. Work flexible schedules or within various environments as agency and supervisor deems necessary. Staff attendance and promptness to assigned shifts is essential. The responsibilities of this position may require staff to be able to work irregular, extended, and/or be available for service calls on nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
  15. Advise supervisor of concerns and problems that arise within the agency.
  16. Follow agency procedures when purchasing items on behalf of the agency.
  17. Follow agency policies and procedures in carrying out duties.
  18. Safeguard all agency funds and property
  19. Performs other duties as assigned by the Network Administrator, Human Resources Director/Supervisor, CEO, and/or designee.
  20. Other reasonable duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary for success. An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum: Certification in information technology or related certificate/degree; three years of demonstrated information technology work in a fast-paced business environment. Must be at least 18 years of age. Persons hired into this position must be licensed drivers and have reliable transportation. If current license is from out-of-state, a valid Colorado Driver's License is required within ten days of hire. Background check, drug and alcohol check, reference check, and motor vehicle checks must be passed. Current motor vehicle insurance is required. Driving is an essential job duty. Due to the nature of IT, employee must live within a 20 mile radius of the agency's main administrative office.

Preferred: Certificate as outlined under Minimum/Preferred Qualifications AND one year of demonstrated information technology work in a business environment OR an Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related degree AND six months of demonstrated information technology work in a business environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and/or trunk more than the average person, squatting/ stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, and forward motion will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with clients and public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. The employee will occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 50 pounds. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement. Access to equipment will require the use of ladders or other lifts. Proper and safe use of a ladder will be required in various areas, including: floors, attics and under floor crawl spaces, roofs, etc. This position demands tolerance for various levels of stress.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Working conditions normally involve inside and outside environments. This position requires working irregular or extended work hours.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, manuals, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, clients, clients' parents, and/or the general public is required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Able to apply basic mathematical skills to include concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Able to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Network Administrator provides the bulk of supervision required. At times, the Human Resources Director may provide direct supervision as well. In general, this position requires that the individual work independently approximately 85% of the time. Mentoring duties for clients and/or clerical support may be required.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Able to work with others, with system issues, and able to work within designated time frames. Patience in dealing with staff, individuals in service, and parents. Able to develop effective working relationships with staff, individuals in service, and the community. Good communication skills and able to work with others as a team is a must. Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Able to perform duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
