We have an immediate opportunity for Structural Engineer for the Los Angeles area. This position requires management and development of new projects once all data and information are collected. The ideal candidate will play an active role in research and design and will require strategic decision-making process for new projects. This is a hybrid position with two days in the office.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to serve as the substation structural engineering lead, managing multiple projects at the same time. The projects can range from larger scale to smaller complex ones.
- Execute substation capital projects that significantly impact financial and operational aspects.
- Ability to lead a team performing structural engineering analysis, calculations, design, detailing, and CAD supported drafting for facilities.
- Responsibilities include reviewing and stamping drawings, structural analyst, foundation designs, structural member designs, build designs, and evaluating new and existing facilities.
- Ability to define structural engineering requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
- Execute activities and provide recommendations, reports and status updates to project management and construction team.
- Oversee design contractors to ensure quality and adherence to construction schedules, budgets, and project requirements, while supporting field personnel.
- Excellent communications skills required. Will be responsible for collaborating with clients, business partners, design contractors, permitting authorities and management.
- Provide expert guidance on new installation and the ability to evaluate existing structures.
- Responsible for supporting construction activities coordinating with the field teams and the inspectors on various issues which include emergency restoration efforts due to wildfires, storms and other incidents.
- Proven leadership, mentorship, guidance, and conduct training sessions for colleagues and partners to aid in the development of the department and its organizational capabilities.
- Ability to travel throughout service territory for client providing necessary engineering services.
- Ability to perform site visits to provide construction support and conduct inspections, while gathering data, performing engineering analysis, and being able to prepare calculations, construction drawings and specifications.
- Required to maintain confidentiality with all client’s procedures, processes, and assets.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- California Civil PE license required
- Five plus years’ experience in structural consulting engineering
- At least five years of experience in structural consulting engineering
- Three years’ experience modifying engineering drawings using AutoCAD
- Proficient with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD along with other computer-based design programs
- Possesses a valid Class C Driver’s License
Upon a conditional job offer, a drug test and background check will be required.
Compensation based on experience.
