Job Title: Analyst I – Laboratory

Reports To: Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Supervisor
Job Type: Full-Time
SHIFT: Swing Shift, M-F
Position Summary
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Analyst I to join our laboratory team in Tacoma, WA. Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Analyst I will perform laboratory tests, including sample preparation and analyte extraction from biological specimens. This role also includes operating and loading various analytical instruments.
Essential Functions

Aliquot urine and/or oral fluid specimens for sample preparation

Perform sample preparation techniques, often using automated liquid handlers, as outlined in the laboratory SOP
-
Prepare samples for Gas Chromatography Flame Ionization Detection (GCFID), Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS-MS), and automated screening analyzers

Perform initial LCMS analytical review

Prepare reagents and buffers as needed

Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies

Troubleshoot routine problems

Maintain records related to specimen preparation

Perform other tasks as assigned, aligned with education, training, and skill level
Additional Duties

Support special projects within the department

Assist extraction, confirmation, and screening teams

Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher in medical technology, laboratory science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science

(New York candidates must qualify as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist); OR
-

Associate degree in medical technology or a chemical, physical, or biological science
-
(New York candidates must qualify as a Clinical Laboratory Technician)

Prior laboratory experience is helpful but not required

Physical Requirements

Light to moderate physical effort (lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.; heavier weights with assistance)

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and physical/mental demands
