Shape the Future of Technical Content – Now Hiring a Technical Writer (DITA XML Specialist)

About the Role
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled Technical Writer to support a major content modernization initiative in Owings Mills, MD. In this hybrid role, you will play a key part in transforming, organizing, and elevating technical documentation using the DITA standard. Your work will directly improve how users access, understand, and apply critical product information, making you an essential contributor to the client’s documentation evolution.

Contract Rate: 55/hour
Schedule: Hybrid (Owings Mills, MD), 9 AM - 5 PM

What You’ll Do
• Develop, edit, and maintain structured technical content using DITA XML.
• Support the migration of legacy documents to a modern DITA-based architecture.
• Work within structured content tools such as RWS Tridion Docs and Oxygen XML Editor.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, clarify requirements, and ensure content accuracy.
• Review documents for consistency, clarity, structure, and compliance with standards.
• Track and update documentation throughout its lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project goals.
• Take ownership of assigned content areas, managing workload independently and proactively.

Required Qualifications
• 1–2 years of experience with DITA XML and structured content development.
• Strong writing, editing, and information-organization skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and take initiative.
• Experience navigating complex content systems or large documentation sets.
• Ability to collaborate with SMEs, project teams, and content stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with RWS Tridion Docs CCMS.
• Experience using Oxygen XML Editor.
• Background in documentation migration or content transformation projects.
• Understanding of structured authoring best practices.

Pay Details: 55.00 per hour
