Summary

Stored Energy Systems (SENS) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This position will be responsible for monitoring the daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles, and may supervise junior accounting staff. Key responsibilities include month-end close processes, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis, payroll, and assisting with audits. Position is a hybrid role located in Longmont, CO overseeing two companies, Stored Energy Systems and Phoenix Broadband Technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations.
  • Oversee and participate in the month-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries, and performing account reconciliations.
  • Payroll processing, developing, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
  • May supervise and mentor junior accounting staff including accounts payable and accounts receivable staff, providing guidance on accounting issues and ensuring their transactions are processed timely.
  • Analyzing and preparing accruals for sales and marketing, engineering, general, and administrative expenses.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assess and monitor internal controls, identify potential risks, and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare month over month, quarter over quarter, and year over year financial flux analysis to review with management, offering insights for financial planning.
  • Participate in the audit process, preparing audit work papers, and liaising with external auditors.
  • Maintaining the company’s balance sheet, P&L, and accounting books, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Assist with other adhoc reporting and projects as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for analyzing financial data and identifying discrepancies.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed for collaborating with colleagues, management, and external parties.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with most recent years as a senior accountant or supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, CPA, CMA or equivalent.

Location: This position is located Longmont, CO.

Base Compensation: $85,000 - $105,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
