Job Title: Chemical Process Engineer

Reports to: Operations Manager
Position Type: Full-Time
Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chemical Process Engineer to lead process design, operational optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient chemical manufacturing processes that support environmental sustainability and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in process design, troubleshooting, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the assessment, development, and implementation of process modifications to improve safety, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to production equipment and chemical processes.
  • Review, update, and maintain accurate process documentation, including P&IDs and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical training and operational support to plant personnel.
  • Evaluate and supervise contractor services, and participate in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) and other risk assessment studies.
  • Prepare and analyze process flow diagrams, technical reports, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Monitor and assess process performance data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external safety/environmental regulations, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Support 24/7 operations, including emergency troubleshooting and remote or on-site technical support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Proficient in scientific and engineering software tools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex information clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or other data-driven process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Must meet physical requirements for working in industrial environments, including the ability to wear a respirator.


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred), or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience in process design, equipment specification, and implementation with a strong focus on safety and environmental compliance.
  • Proven track record of optimizing chemical production processes and resolving technical challenges.


Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work near hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be respirator qualified or able to become qualified.
