Job Summary:
The Commercial & Industrial HVAC-R Estimator supports a union service company by developing accurate, competitive estimates for service, repair, retrofit, and small-to-mid-size project work. This role works closely with service managers, dispatch, field technicians, and partners to ensure estimates reflect real-world service conditions and high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for service repairs and preventative maintenance agreements.
- Review service proposals, technician recommendations, and customer requests to develop clear scopes of work.
- Coordinate with service managers and technicians to validate labor hours and materials.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor pricing for equipment, parts, rentals, and subcontracted services.
- Prepare professional proposals, including scope, assumptions, clarifications, and exclusions.
- Support value-engineering options while maintaining service reliability and code compliance.
- Participate in meetings to ensure seamless execution from estimate to service delivery.
- Maintain estimating databases, service pricing tools, and historical cost data.
- Support safety, quality, and customer satisfaction standards consistent with union service operations.
Required Education, skills, and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree or technical training preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in commercial and/or industrial HVAC-R service estimating. A union environment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVC-R service operations, troubleshooting, and repair practices.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment schedules, service reports, and drawings.
- Proficiency with estimating and proposal tools
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a customer-focused approach.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, working a normal schedule of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, plus on-call opportunities. Work will typically be Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, but can change daily based on customer needs.
