Substitute Teacher Compensation – Waco, TX
$90–$120/day (based on education level or teacher certification)

A Day in the Life of a Substitute Teacher – Waco, TX

• Flexible workdays Monday–Friday (7:30 AM–4:30 PM) with half-day options (7:30 AM–12 PM or 11:30 AM–4 PM)

• Implement and follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher

• Manage the classroom to encourage participation and maintain a positive learning environment

• Adapt teaching methods to meet student needs

• Supervise students in hallways, cafeteria, playground, and classroom

• Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plan

• For long-term assignments, develop lesson plans with department heads to align with the regular teacher’s structure

Substitute Teacher Qualifications – Waco, TX

• Associate degree or 60+ college hours (required); Bachelor’s degree or teacher certification (preferred)

• Prior substitute teaching experience (preferred)

• Strong English verbal and written communication

• Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly, positive approach

• Ability to lead students of all ages and maintain safety

• General knowledge across multiple subjects

• Ability to follow or adapt lesson plans from the absent teacher, principal, or designated staff

• Flexibility, professionalism, and strong critical-thinking skills

• Maintain a clean, respectful, and safe learning environment
