Job Description

True Classic is seeking a Senior Technical Designer with strong technical design expertise and a passion for fit, construction, and innovation in apparel. This individual will own the product lifecycle from initial tech pack development through final production approval across multiple categories, including men's, women's, and kids' apparel. You will collaborate closely with design, product development, production, and sourcing teams to bring high-quality, well-fitting garments to life.

Our environment is incredibly fast-paced and highly collaborative, requiring someone who thrives under pressure, adapts quickly to shifting priorities, and can execute with speed and accuracy without sacrificing attention to detail.

All roles at True Classic are global and omnichannel, driving accountability across product categories, regions, and sales/marketing channels.

Areas of Accountability

  • Own the full technical development process for assigned categories, including men's, women's, and kids' apparel (e.g. knits, woven tops/bottoms, performance items)
  • Create and maintain accurate technical packages (tech packs), including BOMs, specs, construction details, and fit comments.
  • Lead fit sessions, evaluate prototypes, and provide detailed technical feedback to vendors to achieve the best fit and quality across size ranges and demographics.
  • Develop and update grading rules to ensure proper size scale and consistency across all categories.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to meet calendar deadlines and achieve margin goals without compromising fit and quality.
  • Interpret design intent and proactively identify potential construction or performance issues.
  • Stay current with trends in fabrication, construction techniques, and manufacturing innovations.
  • Manage communication with overseas vendors to ensure technical accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

  • 6–8+ years of experience in technical design.
  • Associate's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field.
  • Expertise in garment construction, pattern making, and grading (knowledge of 3D is a plus).
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and PLM systems (e.g., Centric).
  • Deep understanding of fabric behavior, shrinkage, tolerances, and testing protocols.
  • Ability to lead fit sessions and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and factories.
  • Experience working with overseas factories.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work quickly and efficiently in a dynamic, ever-evolving environment.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset, strong time management skills, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Experience working across multiple product categories and customer segments is a strong plus.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $85K -$110K
  • Unlimited PTO and sick time
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
    • 100% employee premium coverage
    • 65% dependent premium coverage
  • 401(k) plan with 3% company match
  • Monthly home office stipend
  • Annual True Classic merchandise allowance
  • Free Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
