Chemical Lab Technician

Location: Onsite role


Trillium Renewable Chemicals is building a more sustainable future through chemistry. We have raised Seed, Series A, and Series B financing rounds and have been featured in Bloomberg, Chemical & Engineering News, won multiple Department of Energy Awards, and were named one of the Top 10 Startups for 2023. Our patented technology converts renewable feedstocks like glycerol to acrylonitrile, a monomer for acrylic fibers, carbon fibers, and other valuable raw materials like ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) plastic. We are building a demonstration scale plant deemed “Falcon” that will begin operations in 3rd Quarter, 2025. The plant will be located at INEOS Nitriles in Port Lavaca, Texas. We are looking for an experienced chemical lab technician to support activities related to the design and operation of Falcon.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials.
  • Prepare chemical solutions for products or processes following standardized formulas.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by participating in chemical hygiene and safety programs.
  • Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies.
  • Maintain and clean laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Provide technical support to chemists and engineers.


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in an industrial laboratory setting
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-based discipline. Biology or Chemistry degree is preferred.
  • Will consider experienced candidates with associate’s degree or technical certification
  • Proficient in lab methods and techniques such as GC, spectroscopy, titrations, and handling hazardous materials.
  • Strong computer skills and experience
  • Familiarity with following test methods, such as ASTM, EPA, and ISO methods
  • Must be able to perform work with minimal direct supervision
  • Eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)


Physical Requirements

  • Job conditions require standing, sitting, stooping, twisting, crouching, kneeling, and climbing ladders 8-12 hours a day.
  • Job conditions require the employee to be able to make visual inspections, perceive color differences, and manipulate objects with precise hand and finger movements.
  • Job conditions require the employee to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30lbs.
  • Job conditions require wearing personal protective equipment, especially chemical resistant gloves and full-face respirators. Beards are not permitted at the work site.


Location and Travel

The Falcon unit will be located at INEOS Nitriles, Port Lavaca, Texas. Depending on the location of the selected candidate, significant business travel will be required to the INEOS site.


Salary

$30 - $45 per hour depending on experience
