Role: Construction Superintendent

Job Description: The Construction Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling day-to-day field operations for assigned crafts and subcontractors. This role typically functions as a Field Superintendent or Area Superintendent, overseeing transmission line construction projects. The ideal candidate will ensure quality assurance, adherence to safety standards, and effective coordination between contractors and technical teams.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute assigned construction tasks within project scope
- Understand and interpret engineering plans and specifications
- Successfully complete projects within contracted schedule and budget
- Work with multi-discipline engineering teams to monitor and control scope, schedule, and budget
- Manage field crews and oversee operation and maintenance of equipment
- Respond to field and client information requests
- Champion worker safety programs and enforce safety protocols
- Oversee site contractor fabrication, construction, and hookup work activities
- Serve as a member of the Project Team when assigned to projects
- Provide interface between the work face and Construction Site Manager or Construction Site Lead
- Oversee daily contractor construction activities for transmission line building
- Conduct quality assurance checks on construction installation
- Perform line inspections to create and address punchlist items
- Ensure proper structure grounding and compliance with electrical safety standards
- Coordinate with utility companies for necessary work holds and clearances
- Assist contractors with planning and execution
- Intervene when unsafe conditions are observed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in field construction planning, execution, and completions
- Willingness to travel to project sites (domestic/overseas)
- Previous Construction Superintendent experience on major capital projects
- Knowledge of transmission line construction including direct embed and/or drilled pier methods
- Experience with conductor pulling (single phase and bundled), including over roadways
- Familiarity with Construction Materials Testing procedures and ASTM standards
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E, proper placement of ground sets, minimum approach distance
- Understanding of PPE requirements and inspection protocols
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and grounding procedures
- Prior utility industry experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-starter with enthusiasm and dedication to client service
- Commitment to safety excellence and proactive safety leadership
Role Details:
Pay: $80/hr, vehicle provided or reimbursed for personal vehicle, per diem if not living locally to site
