Job Description

Landscape Architect / Landscape Designer

In-House Design Role | Commercial Real Estate Environment

About the Opportunity

Our client is a privately held organization with a significant, long-term investment in commercial real estate assets. The firm maintains an internal design function that supports development initiatives, building improvements, and ongoing property enhancements across a diverse set of locations. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the visual quality, usability, and cohesion of built environments that are actively owned, operated, and maintained by the organization.

The position is embedded within a collaborative internal team and works closely with senior leadership to guide design direction while partnering with external specialists as needed. This is a hands-on design role with a focus on practical execution, aesthetic consistency, and long-term value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide internal design support for outdoor environments, site elements, and shared spaces associated with development and existing properties
  • Collaborate with leadership to conceptualize and refine design solutions that enhance visual character and functionality
  • Coordinate and review work produced by external design consultants and trade partners, ensuring alignment with design intent
  • Contribute to the planning and refinement of visual identity elements, including environmental graphics and directional features
  • Evaluate existing site conditions and assist in shaping incremental and long-range improvement strategies
  • Develop visual studies and technical documentation, including sketches, renderings, and construction-ready drawings
  • Prepare design materials to support tenant-facing initiatives, such as layout exhibits, improvement concepts, and exterior elements
  • Partner with internal project, construction, and leasing teams to ensure design continuity from concept through implementation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related field
  • Approximately 5+ years of professional experience in landscape, hardscape, or site-related design
  • Working knowledge of planting design and site-responsive materials
  • Proficiency with design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD or similar platforms) and 3D visualization software
  • Strong visual communication skills with an eye for detail and proportion
  • Ability to think creatively while solving practical, real-world constraints
  • Comfortable working across office and field settings, including site visits under varying conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
  • Regular on-site presence is a core expectation of the role
