About the Position:
The Junior Project Manager works under the guidance of the project manager to assist with the management of procurement projects consisting of FF&E and OS&E needs. This role is responsible for helping coordinate project activities, owning specific project components, and supporting the tracking of timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The Junior Project Manager is expected to develop project management skills, take ownership of deliverables, and assist in problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Support and Ownership: Assist in managing specific components of FF&E and procurement projects, tracking progress on assigned deliverables and reporting updates to project managers.
- Risk and Issue Identification: Monitor for potential project risks and issues. Flag concerns promptly and propose solutions for minor issues.
- Budget and Timeline Tracking: Support the budgeting and scheduling process by maintaining up-to-date information on assigned tasks and identifying variances.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with stakeholders, including architects, designers, and suppliers, to ensure understanding and alignment with project requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct basic quality checks and collaborate with the senior team to ensure standards are met for FF&E items, documentation, and other deliverables.
- Learning and Development: Participate in team meetings, engage in mentorship opportunities, and actively work to develop key project management skills for future growth.
Core Customer Interaction Aptitudes:
· Work closely with Customer, HPI Project Manager to understand project requirements and objectives
· Manage project budget and resource allocation
· Facilitate meetings effectively
· Work cross-functionally to resolve and/or escalate customer concerns or issues in a timely fashion
· Manage day-to-day customer interaction
· Prepare reports with issue identification, suggest alternative solutions and clearly stated recommendations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Coordinator
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, Business Administration, Hospitality, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Coursework or certifications in project management (e.g., CAPM by PMI) is a plus.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in project coordination, project support, or an entry-level project management role.
- Relevant internship experience can also be beneficial, particularly in hospitality, construction, or procurement.
Project Management Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- Familiarity with project phases (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing) is desirable.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, including project managers, Buyers, and suppliers.
Organizational Skills:
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a keen eye for detail to track project deliverables and timelines.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to identify and report potential risks and issues.
- Willingness to contribute to solutions for minor project challenges under the guidance of a senior project manager.
Adaptability and Willingness to Learn:
- Eagerness to learn from senior project managers and team members, with a strong interest in developing project management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in project scope, schedule, and team dynamics.
Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Knowledge experience with Oracle
- Must be proficient with the entire Microsoft Office suite of products
- Must have solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Must have solid time management and prioritization skills
- Must have sound analytical skills
- Must have solid customer service and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing (in English)
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers and external parties
- Ability to walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions
