Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A middle school in Joliet, IL is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to support students within an Emotional Support Program designed for those experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. This position is a contract role running through the current school year, working onsite in a structured and supportive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the emotional and behavioral needs of middle school students.
  • Manage a caseload within a highly structured Emotional Support Program.
  • Provide assistance with daily living activities, including toileting support, as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff, families, and support personnel to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor student progress consistently.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist 1) certification is required.
  • Experience working with students exhibiting emotional and behavioral difficulties in a middle school setting.
  • Ability to manage a structured program and adapt teaching approaches to individual student needs.
  • Comfortable providing hands-on assistance and support for personal care tasks.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Location:

  • Joliet, Illinois
  • Position is fully onsite at the middle school.

Schedule:

  • Approximately 37.5 hours per week, with typical hours from 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM.
  • Contract duration through the end of the 20252026 academic year.
