About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated GIS Technician to join our team. In this role, you will manage, maintain, and update geographic data, creating maps and geospatial tools that support environmental restoration, or natural resource-related projects. Youll use GIS software to process spatial data, support fieldwork, assist with technical troubleshooting, and help ensure data accuracy across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and process spatial data from various sources.
  • Perform QA/QC on spatial datasets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain and update GIS databases with current, high-quality data.
  • Create and update maps using GIS software, reflecting environmental or field changes.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to GIS users.
  • Research, compile, and analyze data; create clear, actionable reports and presentations.
  • Assist with setup and maintenance of GIS field equipment (tablets, computers, etc.).

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field
    OR
  • 13 years of professional experience using GIS in an environmental or ecological context



Preferred Experience:

  • GIS work supporting conservation, restoration, or natural resource projects



Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in GIS software- ArcGIS, ArcPro, Field Maps, and Survey 123.
  • Strong data management, analysis, and map-making skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills



Certifications (Preferred but not required):

  • GISCI (GIS Certification Institute) or Esri Technical CertificationEsri Technical Certification Program

Work Environment

Most duties are performed in an office setting with occasional tasks outside at our native plant nursery
