JOB TITLE: Adjunct Instructor - English
DEPARTMENT: English
REPORTS TO: Writing Program Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY: Teach first-year composition courses during the 2025-2026 academic year on the main campus or in the Early College programs at Oakside Academy, Oxford High School, Lake Orion, or Lapeer.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Master’s degree in English or related subject area
- Previous teaching experience preferred with evidence of effective teaching
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate with the program manager to develop a syllabus.
- Effectively plan meaningful class activities and assignments to achieve curricular objectives.
- Fulfill adjunct duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
- Communicate clearly and effectively.
- Interact with a variety of individuals in a courteous and fair manner.
- Manage time while keeping up-to-date on departmental and college policies, procedures, and practices in order to provide accurate information or assistance to students.
- Evaluate students’ progress, and report outcomes.
- Promote an inclusive RCU through demonstration of the Diversity Statement. Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion both individually and as related to one’s field of work, profession or discipline.
